the house of 1000 mirrors

long ago in a small, far away village, there was a place known as the house of 1000 mirrors.
a small, happy little dog learned of this house and decided to visit. when he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. he found himself staring at 1000 other happy  little dogs with their tails wagging just fast as his. he smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. as he left the house, he thought to himself,"this is a wonderful place, i will come back and visit it often."

another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. he slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. when he saw 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at thm and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. as he left, he thought,"this is a horrible place, and i will never go back there again."

all the faces in the world are mirrors. if we are optimistic, we will find optimistic people all around, and if we are pessimistic, the rest of the world seems to be pessimistic to us.

smile :-)

a stranger was seated next to a little girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, "let's talk. i've  heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger."

the little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, "what would you like to talk about?"

"oh, i don't know", said the stranger. "how about nuclear power?" and he smiles.

'OK', she said. "that could be an intresting topic. but let me ask you a question first.
a horse, a cow and a deer, all eat the same stuff- grass- yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat potty, and a horrse produces clumps of dry grass. why do you suppose that is?"the stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, " hmmm, i have no idea."

to which the little girl replies,"do you really feel qualified to discussnuclear power when you don't know shit?"

building your house

an elderly carpenter was ready to retire. he told his employer contractor of his plans to leave the house building business, to live more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. he would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. they could get by. the contractor was sorry to see  his good worker go & asked if he could build just 1 more house as a personal favor. he said 'yes', but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. he resorted to shoddy workmanship & used inferior materials. when he finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. then he handed the front door key to the carpenter & said "this is your house... my gift to you." the carpenter was shocked! what a shame! if he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

so it is with us. we build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built.  if we could do it over, we would do it much differently. but, you can not go back. you are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. someone once said," life is a do it yourself project." your attitude, and the choices you make today, help you built the house you will live in tomorrow. therefore build it wisely!

essay from a child

A teacher from primary school asked her students to write an essay about what they would like god to do for them....
At the end of the day while marking the essays, she read one that made her very emotional. her husband, who  just walked in saw her crying and asked her - what happened?
she answered- read this. it's one of my student's essays.

"oh god, tonight i ask you something very special : make me into a television. i want to take its place. live like tv in my house. have my own special place, and have my family around me. to be taken seriously when i talk.... i want to be the center of attention and be heard without interruptions or questions. i want to receive the same special  care that the tv receives when it is not working. have the company of my dad when he arrives home from work, even when he is tired. and i want my mom to want me when she is sad and upset, instead of ignoring me...and... i wnt my brothers to fight to be with me.... i want to feel that  family just leaves everything aside, every now  and then, just to spend time with me. and last but not the least make it that i can make them all happy and entertain them...
lord  i don't ask you for much... i just want to live like every tv."

at that moment the husband said-
"my god, poor kid. what horrible parents!

she looked up at him and said-
"that essay is our son's ! ! ! "

classroom psychology test

a psychology professor at the university of Miami knew his students expected a terrifying long final exam.

to play with their minds a little (what do you expect from a psychology professor) he only put one question on the final exam.

he watched the reactions of the students as they all saw the one question. initially they all looked relieved, but as the difficulty of the question began to sink in, those relieved faces sagged to confusion and consternation.

all, this is, except for one student.
he read the question, tapped the pencil into his palm a few times, then jotted down on the test paper.
he walked up to the professor, handed him the final, and walked out.

the professor blinked in surprise, looked at what the student wrote, and smiled.
the professor wrote "100%" on the top of that student's test.

the question:
WHAT IS COURAGE?

the student's answer:
THIS IS

the shipwreck

the only survivor of a shipwreck was washed upon a small uninhabited island. he prayed feverishly for god to rescue him, and everyday he scanned  the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements and to store his few possessions. but then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to sky.

the worst had happened; everything was lost. he was stunned with grief and anger. "god, how could you do this to me!" he cried. early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching his island. it had come to rescue him. "how did you know i was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. " we saw your smoke signal" they replied.

it is easy to get discouraged when things are going badly. but we shouldn't lose heart, because god is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. remember, next time your little  hut is burning to the ground- it just may be a smoke signal that summons  THE GRACE OF GOD.

500 rupee note

a well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a 500 rupee note. in the room of 200, he asked- who would like this note?

hands started going up. he said, " i am going to give this note to one of you, but first let me do this." he proceeded to crumple the note up. he then asked, "who still wants it?" hands were up in the air.
" well" he replied," what if i do this?" he dropped it on the table and started to grind it with his hands. he picked it up, now crumpled and dirty, "now who still wants it?"
still hands were in air.
"my friends, you have learned a very valuable lesson, no matter what i did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in the value. it still was worth rs. 500.
many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. we feel as though we are worthless, but no matter what happened or what will happen, you will never loose your value.
dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you. the worth of our lives comes, not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE......

success, to be or not to be...

THE UNIVERSE AROUND US HAS 3 PARTS OF REALITY- A TRIANGULAR REALITY- THE OBSERVER, THE OBSERVED AND THE ACT OF OBSERVATION.

THE OBSERVER around us has the power to witness and that is the center of all awareness, knowledge and experience. if the "I" is not there nothing else matters- i.e. matter does not matter unless there is somebody to experience it.

and that force experiences is the center of existence, you may call it "WILL". the word "will" implies in it intrinsically the act of happening already i.e. i will do this, i will be happy etc.

the "will" indicates a certainty of purpose and it comes with in each of us. it transcends all boundaries and exists in a universal "I-ness" that is utterly complete. so strength, knowledge are like zeros without a "1" in front of them. that is what the value of 00 without 1 in front of them. answer is nothing! but if you put 1 (signifying will)in front of the zeros it becomes total/ complete.
a successful person therefore is one who realizes this "1" in them and puts before all the other things. and that is indeed the key to success.

the difference b/w a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather   a lack of will. this is very true quote that puts the will of a person as the most important thing to conquer you goals.

you don't need to be very intelligent or rich person because if you have the will and work towards that goal, you  are demonstrating to yourself that you are capable of achieving all that a successful person would. this will obviously imply a lot of effort , because the thing we want just won't fall from the sky. the person would have to work hard focusing all energies and thoughts to walk through the hazardous path and get to the other end.

you can be rich and even intelligent but if you are not willing to put in some effort and rely on other to get what you want, you are going in the wrong direction,

a person, who knows what he wants and fight against everybody and everything to prove the truth of his ideas, is a true person. he is a person who gives up laziness and puts on the working pants. everything in this world involves effort and will, so that is what it takes to be a successful person.

father's blessings

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. for many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it , he told him that was all he wanted.

As graduation day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased a car. finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. his father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and how much he loved him. he handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely leather bound bible. angrily, he raised hi voice and said, " with all your money you gave me a bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. he had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. he had not seen him since that graduation day. before he could  make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. he needed to come home immediately  and take care of things. when he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. he began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new bible , just as he had left it years ago. with tears, he opened the bible and began to turn the pages, as he read those words a car key dropped from the envelope taped behind the bible. it had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired, on the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words......
PAID IN FULL.
